You Need to Read These Classic Books

by - July 17, 2017

"I won't go outside Mum, I rather read" is a typical phrase you may use while trying to read in peace and quiet till you're forced out the house, for whatever reason, and must sit on a bench reading a book. Reading is awesome and books are my jam. Therefore I will constantly have a pile of books waiting to be read. Believe me that if I was a millionaire, I'd buy a library and just read the every single book.

Recently, I've been into more 'classic' books written before my time. Isn't it fascinating how literature goes beyond our generations? And never stops to develop? Likewise, I'm fascinated in these author's and feel super eager to read the following:

The Great Gatsby

This is a classic book, which I must read for my A-level studies. Even if it wasn't on my curriculum,  I probably still would've picked it up to read. It follows a story of a 'rich' millionaire in the west egg, who has a hidden lie...

I cannot lie to this audience and must say, I already read half of it... Sorry, Not Sorry. However, from what I've already read it is a highly plot driven book and I will have to read from the beginning of the novel once again as you can easily become lost.

To Kill a Mocking Bird

"Shoot all the Bluejays you want, if you can hit 'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a Mockingbird"

Ecstatic is not the word on how I feel to read this book. According to many reviews, this is a very powerful, strong, emotional novel following a story very sensitive to history. It will be eye opening for me to see how others were treated and the injustice many suffered.

With all respect in mind, Harper Lee was an older author, who sadly passed away in 2016. A deep shame as I would've loved to meet her and discuss this book after I've read it.

Harry Potter Series

I've missed the childhood phase of HarryPotter as you may know from my Ultimate Harrypotter Bucket List. I am completely obsessed with this series and feel so eager to finish it all! This will also be on my to re-read list as there is so much to relive.  (Currently finishing Goblet of Fire), which is my favourite film and book so far!

Additionally, it is great to see the extra stories that got ignored or misrepresented in the films. Hermonie is given so much more depth and Ginny has such a bigger role in the books, rather than her just feeding Harry a pastry, her admiration is slowly developed in the background of the books.

The world created by J.K.Rowling draws you in and makes you never want to leave.

My parent's never encouraged me to read (a great shame) so please force your child/future to read this franchise.

What is on your reading list?

Hope you enjoyed reading this post, even though this is a rather unusual post for this blog, it was rather fun to write. As this site is rather young, I feel like experimenting with content and styles so maybe you will see similar post's to this one in the future.

I am also currently reading Harry Potter for the first time and am about halfway through The Order Of The Pheonix and I am obsessed I loveeee harry potter. So glad to see someone else going through the same thing as me so I can talk about it to someone haha. Ordered all the books on Amazon and for the first one I ordered a 20-year Gryffindor edition because I thought it was so cool. 1. Awesome! Speaking about HP, I am also halfway through The Order of The Pheonix! (The awful Umbridge is in full reign) It is quickly becoming my favourite book in the franchise. I did the pottermore quizzes and found out my house is Hufflepuff and couldn't be happier about it! Thanks for the comment :)
